Education – Assistant Professor
Coe College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education beginning Fall 2016. Applicants should have a strong foundation in K-12 teaching and college-level instructional expertise in two or more of the following areas: math, educational psychology, exceptional learners, foundations of education, and/or reading.
In line with the College’s liberal arts mission, the Department seeks an educational generalist able to teach a variety of licensure courses and courses for the general college population, including the First Year Seminar. Candidates should speak to their ability to contribute to these curricular offerings in their application materials.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to contribute to the intellectual life of the College, to work closely with students, and to pursue an active scholarly research program. A commitment to mentoring students and fostering strong professional relationships across campus and the local community are both essential to this position.
Minimum qualifications: A doctoral degree in Education by August 2016. ABD applicants will be considered. K-12 teaching experience. Evidence of excellence in teaching, research, and service. A strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts setting.
Preferred qualifications: Two to three years successful college-level teaching experience. Three years successful K-12 teaching experience. Experience supervising preservice teachers. Experience advising and mentoring students, working with students on scholarly research projects, and collaborating with other teaching professionals.
